It’s Magic

Arthur C. Clarke’s Third Law says that any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. I think that applies to skills too. Any masterful use of skill is indistinguishable from magic. And magic is… well it's magical. It inspires wonder, curiosity, and admiration.

Sleight of hand is one skill that seems like literal magic. I love it as a delightful demonstration of the gap between what we see and what is really happening. Spoiler alert - Stuff doesn't mysteriously vanish from one place and magically reassemble itself somewhere else. A good sleight of hand magician elegantly makes that appear the only logical explanation for what you are seeing.

Magic ignites my child like wonder, and it reminds me that I’m unlikely to have the full picture in any situation. That knowledge is helpful if I'm solving problems, planning, resolving conflict, making decisions etc.
